Once again, hats off to the incredible work of Dave Rankin (go follow him, sillies!) in the full restoration of these pieces. The remastered-for-vinyl audio fidelity of this pressing is just ferocious. If you own the Broken Circles pressing of this one, you should keep it, because Brent is an awesome dude who deserves mega-props for even getting a pressing of this done in the first place. I like to think that this restoration was fully-informed by the reference material of not-only the original CD, but that first vinyl pressing, yet I wanted this repress to be its own bird, entirely. For one of the art prints included in the packaging, Dave repainted the iconic front cover, imagining what it would be like to see the exact same now-non-binary gender being “burning alive” after twenty years (this illustration was also attempted “with hair”, but scrapped in favor of “baldy”, the results of which can be seen only on the custom Test Pressing jacket) The “eaten by a snake” image is particularly harrowing to me.
