It was one year ago, almost exactly to the day. An Autumn breeze was already cooling off the world around Bellevue, WA when I got a call, out of the blue, from my friend Markus Nordic in Norway, whom I hadn’t heard from in quite a while. I was extremely happy to hear from him, as he usually has a project in mind to collaborate upon together. To my extreme surprise, he told me that Nordic had been working on having Rocky Gray restore & remix audio for the long-dismembered Living Sacrifice album “Inhabit.” Even better, there was going to be this brand new cover illustration from an artist called Mike Rubovcak. We talked for a long while, & again several times following that night’s conversation. DJ Sacrifice sent me a box full of keepsakes surrounding this album cycle (everything from Malevolent Creation co-headlining show ticket stubs, to Magazine interviews, a picture of DJ with President Bill Clinton(?), stickers, album production recording schedule boards, & more). We did our very best to tell a story with the packaging, but let Lance Garvin tell his version of the story in a retrospective essay that may or may not have been written over thirty years ago… this is a wild one for the old heads & new fans (who get to see LS play Thunder Festival & Furnace Fest all in the next few weeks!) alike. Get it.
