It was 2007. I remember thinking aloud regarding the iPhone, “I don’t think I’ll ever need something like that” because I had brought my digital camera to the show to take photos & 4 megapixel videos… It was the first of many strange & unusual run ins with Stephen & the @Anberlin crew (another one involved highlighting “the perfect day trip of central New Mexico” as a drivable route on massive gas station map… yes, it involves #JemezSprings, NM, thanks for asking). The last time we hung out was at @FurnaceFest 2021, it was dark, after Anberlin’s set & I feel like @brettdetar was helping me put on the hard sell for @unoriginalvinyl to design some reissues of the classic titles like “NTFP” and “Cities” (thanks Brett, it finally worked). I’ll be really happy to own a copy of this vinyl that DOESN’T have Steve’s (misheard by my wife) lyric “I heard you say that you’d come back here, so I wrote to remind you to somehow. Dance, buy yourself pants, think of me when you do” written on the jacket cover..
